NEW DELHI: The army staged a flag march in the main streets of the curfew bound towns of Ayodhya and Faizabad Nov 3 while more people were killed in the violence sweeping parts of the country taking the toll since Oct 30 to 680.

Two people succumbed to injuries in Meerut while one person was reportedly killed while traveling in the Bareilly Aligarh passenger train. Another death was reported from Broach district in Gujarat where a person was assaulted by a mob while traveling in an authorickshaw.

Thousands of people this morning staged a dharna outside the residence of the commissioner in Faizabad demanding action against officials who ordered firing on Kar Sevaks in Ayodhya Friday.

The processionists also protested against the continuation of curfew there. The commissioner, Mr Madhukar Gupta, assured them that adequate compensation would be given to the families of those killed in firing in Ayodhya.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yaday, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of the Kar Sewaks and injuries to some others in Ayodhya.

In a statement here, the chief minister said that adequate medical facilities would be given to the injured.

Meanwhile, authorities clamped curfew on Rajpipla town of Broach district following arson and stone throwing incidents.

The toll in the current spell of violence in Gujarat has shot up to 96 with the death of one more person at Umrawada village in Broach district, the deceased was traveling in an authorickshaw when he was assaulted by a mob in Ankles war Taluka of the district late last night, police said.

In Ahmedabad city, curfew was relaxed in phases to enable people to purchase essential commodities.

Shoot at sight orders and indefinite curfew at Aligarh and Atrauli continued. The toll in clashes in Aligarh city rose to four with the recovery of a body near Harduagunj station. The victim was reportedly traveling in the Bareilly Ali garh train when he was killed, district magistrate Deepak Verma said.
