SRINAGAR: Parviaz Imroz, a lawyer-turned human rights activist, was shot at and critically wounded by unidentified persons while four persons were killed as normal life remained paralyzed in Kashmir Valley, police said.
The spokesman said that militants showered bullets on Imroz while he was on his way home in a car a Machoo on Srinagar. Charar-E-Sharef road in Badgam district.
The human rights activist received bullet injuries in his back and doctors at the S.M.H.S. Hospital in Srinagar declared him out of danger, but still critical.
The spokesman said a militan Shakeel Ahmad Sakib was killed when security forces opened fire in retaliation to the militant fire at Gangotra in Doda district of Jammu region.

Two identified as Abdul Hamid Dar and Ghulam Ahmad Reshi were arrested by the security forces from their hideouts at Rusoo-Beerwah in Badgam district and Dampora-Nishat in Srinagar.
Business activities and movement of traffic remained affected in Srinagar and Kashmir Valley due to the general strike called by the Employees Action Forum, an amalgam of different employees’ federations and trade unions.
The leaders of EAF, which came into being on April 10 to spear head the 16 day pen-down strike to force the authorities to revoke the dismissal order of 22 government employees, condemned the raids at the residence of forum Leader, Nazir Ahmad Gagroo.
