JAMMU: The Unification of communal forces and the division of secular forces helped Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Chaman Lal Gupta bagthe Udhampur Parliamentary seat, state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Sheikh Abdul Rehman, who was also the party candidate from Jammu, has said.
Mr. Rehaman, addressing a Press conference here last week, demanded an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge into the rigging in the elections, He said the Speaker should not allow these “so-called MPs” to take oath before the completion of the inquiry. Mr, Rehaman also demanded the revision of electoral rolls before the Assembly elections besides issuing of identity cards for the voters and he adamantly added that his party will not allow holding of Assembly elections without this.
Mr, Rehman said that fresh electoral rolls should be prepared because large scale errors were detected in the electoral rolls as the names of weaker sections were deliberately not included to prevent the BSP from coming to power. He said the Governor and the Election Commission were busy patting themselves on the back while in reality the elections were not free and fair. Mr. Rehman said that rigging, a tradition introduced by the Congress party, was the reason for the rise of militancy.
