CHANDIGARH, India: A Cabinet Minister of Punjab, Mr. Major Singh Uboke, has alleged that corruption in Punjab police department has touched new heights after Mr, J.P. Rebiero took over as the Director General of Punjab Police, Talking to newsmen Mr. Major Singh alleged that the new DGP was a stooge of the Central Government, On his instructions the police and adopted indifferent attitude towards Punjab politicians, particularly those of the ruling Akali Dal. Mr Major Singh said that during a tour of the district of Amritsar he found hundreds of people illegally attained at several police stations. Mr. Major Singh disclosed the matter ‘was brought to the notice of Mr. Kanwaljit Singh and said that he will speak 10 the Chief Minister also, In reply to a question Mr. Major Singh said another objective of his visit to various parts of the district was to study the implications of the deployment of BSF.
