JALANDHAR: Amn Singh Editor of Punjab Weekly Surkh Rekha, today demanded the release of the weekly’s correspondent, Inderjit Singh who, the Editor said was taken in custody by the police at Mukerian in Hoshiarpur district ‘on Thursday.

Editor sought their intervention for the release of Inderjit Singh whose “whereabouts were also not disclosed” by the police.
The Editor alleged that the correspondent had been held to dissuade him from reporting activities of a “Khalistan is Sarpanchs”. He said the arrest belied the government claim about providing protection to journalists in Punjab.
