RACINE: (MIL):
A well planned and well organized get together for better understanding between Sikhs and Congressman Les Aspin, Chairman Defense Committee was arranged ‘on October 2, 1988, at the residence of Dr. Amarjit Singh and his wife Dr. Satnam Kaur of Racine (Mil). Surinderpal Singh KaIra, Director of Administration of World Sikh Organization spoke on the human rights and the killing of Sikh Engineering Students at Bidar (Karnatka) by Hindu mobs. He explained to the Congressman how this organized phenomenon of killings was similar to the killings that occurred in 1984 in Delhi and the others states of India,
Guljit Singh and Dr, Soin appealed to the Congressman for his support to Con Res. #343 on the floor of Congress, Rani Pavitar Singh exhaustively explained the problem of Turban as faced by her son Ravi Singh in the Military Academy and appealed to the Congressman to resolve it forever through his good offices.
Congressman Les Aspin committed to support resolution #343 and help in resolving the issue of Turban in U.S. Armed Forces to the satisfaction of Sikhs.
Surinderpal Singh Kalra thanked the Congressman and congratulated Dr, Amarjit Singh and his wife Dr. Satnam Kaur for their efforts.
