LONDON: A world record four successive sixes by Kapil Dev allowed India to avoid the follow on by one run on a remarkable fourth morning of the first test against England at Lords July 30,

However, India collapsed for 224 in the second innings losing the test by 247 runs. Kapil finished on 77 not out as India were all out for 454, 199 runs behind England’s first innings of 653 for four declared,

India looked certain to have to bat again when last man Narendra Hirwani joined Kapil with 24 runs still needed.
