BANGALORE: Sixty eight Congress1 legislators while describing the reported move of the loyalists to seek disqualification of 56 ZZMLAS for staging dharna in the Legislative Assembly on Sepi.6 as “height of madness and stupidity,” demanded Chief Minister Veerappa Moily to quit honorably admitting inability to face the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and State Assembly.
In a statement released to the press on Tuesday, they described the statement of the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Haranahally Ramaswamy made on Monday that steps may be anitiated to disqualify them as 56 MLAs were in the well of the House when the motion of no confidence was put to vote.
Dissidents claimed that it was not a mere 56 but more than 75 MLAS joined the Dharna on Monday. They clarified that their motion was not against the government for voting against the motion or Mily but in support of their demand for a chance to participate in the debate on no confidence motion noted by the Opposition parties.
The dissident legislators in their statement said that they were on # dharna demanding for their right to peak on the allegations made against them and the protest was not against the government or the party whip. The issue of abstaining from voting does not arise at all since the motion was defeated by voice vote.
