KARIMNAGAR: The district police authorities last week registered a case of rape on a Dalit woman in Garepally village of Kalaram mandal in Karimnagar district in which eight jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force were alleged to have been involved. ‘The police earlier had flatly denied the incident but with the intervention of local media persons, they recorded the complaint of the victim. ‘The 20yearold divorced woman told the police officials of the incident in the presence of media persons in a frightened mood. The police inspector of Karimnagar One Town then recorded her statement and registered the case and later sent her to the hospital for medical examination.
The victim told the police that she was whisked away by eight policemen belonging to the CRPF when she was returning home from a nearby provision shop at Kalaram. She was taken to the nearby woods, gagged by one man while another caught her tight in his an mms. She was then raped by all the others following which she fell unconscious for two hours.
Later, a few of the armed police from the local police station took her back to her home.
Surendra Babu, talking to media persons, said he would be recommending the case to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for an impartial report. The case would be registered and investigated| by the Karimnagar police but not by the Kataram police.
