PRADESH (PTI): Prime Minister Narsimha Rao last week accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of dividing the people along communal and regional lines for gaining electoral mileage. Addressing a public meeting here in the picturesque northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, he said while BJP leader L.K.Advani talked of Hindus and Muslims, the state leaders raised the issue of “old and new Himachal” to exploit their regional sentiments. He warned that development of (he stale and the welfare of the poor and backward classes would be main casualties if the parties like the BJP which had no program for the people were came to power. He said opposition governments never completed their five-year term and their attention remained engaged in the matters other than the development and welfare of people.
