NEW DELHI, India: The national hockey selectors sprang quite a few surprises on Wednesday when they announced the probables for the Seoul Olympic Games during the final of the Wills Nationals.
Excluded from the list of 26, to attend a coaching camp at Lucknow are forwards Thoiba Singh, Tikken Singh, R.P. Singh, and Marcellus Gomes; halfbacks Hardeep Singh and Abdul Aziz; defender Vineet Kumar and goalkeeper R. S. Rawat.
Included are forwards Ripudaman Singh (Punjab), James Karketta (Railways), Chinappa (Karnataka) and Pooviah (Services); half backs John Fernandes (Bombay), Tejinder Singh (Punjab), and Kripal Singh (Railways) and young goalkeepers Mark Patterson (Bombay) and Sarbjit Kumar (Punjab).
