The President of World| Sikh Organization had a busy second quarter. Enumerated below are notable activities:

  1. Attended a meeting of the W. $.0, Governing Council in Toronto, Canada.
  2. Participated in Press Conference at Toronto, Canada, along with President of W.S.O. International and W.S.O, Canada to present Sikh viewpoint on the second anniversary of Indian government’s most brutal and callous attack on the Sikh holy shrines including Golden Temple, Amritsar, Also alerted the Sikhs participants and public in general how Indian government is falsely trying to implicate Sikh youths in an airplane hijacking which never took place and thereby playing its old game of maligning the entire Sikh nation in the eyes of the World.
  3. Appeared on one hour radio programme in Toronto, Canada to answer questions by W.SO. Member ship
  4. Attended WS.O (Canada) conference in June, 1986, and out Lined W.S.O.U.S.A. programme to counteract Indian government’s false propaganda and put W.S.O. ‘on sound footing.
  5. Attended W.S.O. (USA) national meeting in Chicago, The major accomplishments were

A, Formation of W.S.O. Trust Fund and WS.O. General Fund.

B, Sikh history and document preservation committee.

C, Open Communication Sikh masses everywhere.

  1. Participated in an open meeting with W.S.0. (USA) Chicago Chapter in which various W.S.O. problems and solutions were discussed,
  2. Follow up of Chicago meeting and Trust Fund was actually established under Dr. Harbans Singh Sraon,
  3. Participated in second anniversary celebration of W.S.0. and third anniversary of Sacramento Gurdwara Sahib at Sacramento, California on July 26, 1986.
  4. Attended press conference at Sacramento Gurdwara Sahib in which it was pointed out that Sikhs was unjustly blamed by the Indian government as “terrorists”. Part of the press conference was covered by local T. V. channel.

  1. Sent telegrams to President Ronald Reagan, Sate Department, Congressional Sub Committee on human rights, Sub Committee on Near Easter and South Eastern affairs regarding massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi.
  2. Also sent telegrams to Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, The Tribune, Punjab, Chandigarh, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal concerning the above.
  3. Attended meeting with W.S.O. Yuba City, California Chapter on July 28, 1986 and brought them update in W.S.O. (USA) affairs and future course of action.
  4. Coordinated efforts with Sikh Education and Religious Trust of Ohio to translate Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale lecture tapes into English.
  5. W.S.O. (Boston Chapter) completed the video which includes the following:

a, W.S.0. Golden Temple Movie.

b, News items 684 through I84,

c, Washington D.C. Protest of 685,

d, Lectures of General LS, Bhullar at MILT.

e, Sarbat Khalsa Conference of 6/86 at Akal Takht.

F, W.S.0. New York City protest of  6/86.

  1. WS.O. Boston Chapter has undertaken the task of helping families of military personnel who deserted the army 10 protect the Indian army’s attack on the Golden Temple in June, 1984, Please contribute generously.
  2. Calendar for 1987 is being published with pictures of 1984 holocaust,
  3. WS.O, Boston Chapter had been very actively contributing articles to Sikh News and various other newspapers to give Sikh viewpoint and promote Sikh cause,
  4. Wrote leters to various Congressmen and senators to update them on the oppression of Sikhs in Punjab and throughout India and violation of Human Sikh rights.
  5. W.S.O. (Boston Chapter)| is putting news of Sikh interest in ‘computer use network. As an example, the complete “Oppression in Punjab” book and various other articles showing violation of rights of Sikhs have been put into computer network.
  6. Participating in coordinating efforts of various Sikhs to actively join in American political system and supporting candidates who are sympathetic to Sikh caves,
  7. Participated in W.S.O, (USA) National Council meeting at Los Angeles on Sept, 12, 13, and 14, 1986 in which various new projects were initiated,
  8. The W.S.O. (New York Chapter) is actively involved in connection with various organizations in the area such as the International Immigration Foundation and has been successful with the help of various Sikh organizations in the tristate area to organize a parade and participate as a separate contingent.
  9. W.S.O. (New York) along with the W.S.O. Canada and W.S.0, (International) has been able to contact Amnesty International.
  10. New WSO. Chapters on the East Coast are in the process of being formed such as Connecticut and Pittsburg, Pa.
  11. WS.O. (New York) recommended that a T.V. programme of 60 minutes should be instituted by various gurdwaras for which the New York area has been contacted.
  12. W.S.0, (New York) organized visits of heads of various organizations to the Sikh Gurdwara at Richmond Hill, New York.
  13. One of the members of the tristate area has been appointed to a position on the Board of Directors of the Queens Botanical Garden.
  14. The W.S.0, (New York) contacted Muslim organization as well as those in China and Afghanistan to introduce to them the plight of Sikhs.
