CHANDIGARH: Dreaded militant Anokh Singh, chief of Garam Dal Khalsa, eight other members of this gang and a police constable were killed in Maharashtra on June 22.

In Punjab, two militants were Killed and one escaped from police custody last week.

In a fierce gun battle, a crack Punjab police team gunned down Anokh Singh and eight other members of his gang at Amanwati in Maharashtra on Tuesday night.

Giving this information, Tam Taran Superintendent of Police (Operations) Khubi Ram identified three others as Anokh Singh’s Son Darbara Singh, brother in law Balkar Singh and Singhara Singh.

Head constable Baljinder Singh wasalso killed. Anotherconstable Nihal Singh was injured.

According to information available at Amnisar, Anokh Singh had sold his property in his home Village and migrated to Maharashtra to establish himself 4S a truck operator.

A Punjab Police team was rushed there which maintained a close vigil on a rented house at Ram Kishan colony at Amarvati.

The policemen succeeded in capturing one of the militants near Chitra cinema in the city on Tues day evening.

In an encounter, security forces gunned down two unidentified militants near Kishan Singh Wala village in Kapurthala district on Tuesday night.

A gang of militants ambushed a police party, escorting a militant identified as Jagjit Singh for recovery of arms near Wardeke village in Jagraon police district (Ludhiana) on Tuesday night. In the ensuing encounter, Jagjit Singh managed to escape. Carbome militants kidnapped two people including an industrialist Sanjiv Sethi at Amritsar,

The killer squads of Punjab police continue to track down and kill militants in other states of the country.

On June 22 police killed Anokh Singh, Chief of Garam Dal Khalsa along with eight other militants in Maharashtra State. Members of Anokh Singh’s family were also killed by the killersquad. Darbara Singh son of Anokh Singh and his two brother-in-law Balkar Singh and Singhara Singh were killed when the police squad attacked them in their house at Amravati, a small town in Maharashtra.

Anokh Singh had fled from Punjab after selling of all his property and wanted to lead a peaceful life, His family members did not have any history of crime.

Last month a police killer squad had killed a Sikh couple Laksham Singh and his wife in Bengal because they were the close relations of a known militant leader Karnal Singh who had been killed in a fake encounter in Punjab. The killings of Anokh Singh had his family members appear to be a part of the Government plan to liquidate Sikhs with militant links where ever they be living in India According to information received from sources in Punjab, Anokh Singh had sold his: property in his home village and mi grated to Maharashtra to establish himself in transport business, The Punjab police tracked him there and dispatched a team of police men to liquidate him and his family, they kept a close vigil on his rented house at Ram Kishan Colony at Amravati. On June 22, they raided the house and in a short operation killed Anokh Singh, his son and two brother-in-law as well as two other unidentified persons, Two female members of the family were also killed in the operation.

The Punjab police also killed another suspected militant near Chitra Cinema in Amrayati on Tuesday.
