CHANDIGARH: A Sikh Security guard attached to. Punjab’s Director General of Police was reportedly killed by Border Security Force personnel in suspicious circumstances. The guard belonged to the Punjab police .The Government sources described the incident as an accident. The press reporters were informed by the official spokesman who said that the guard died when his sten-gun accidently went off. This story was discounted as the version of some ‘eye witnesses leaked to the public. ‘According to these sources, B.S. F. personnel killed the guard when ‘they found his movements around the Police Chief unusual.
Punjab’s Police Chief Mr. Julius Ribeiro, it may be recalled, has vowed to take four lives for one policeman killed. His call to the police to kill four Sikh young men in what he described ‘bullet for bullet retaliation has been widely condemned. Some organizations representing Human Rights groups have demanded prosecution of the Chief for undermining the legal and constitutional obligations of a responsible officer. But Barnala Government has refused to take any action against the Police Chief.
