NEW DELHI India: Indian authorities are interrogating 10 people in an attempt to establish their links with seven Sikhs arrested in Canada for alleged plots to blow up the Indian parliament, derail trains and bomb an oil refinery.

A spokesman for India’s Central Bureau of Investigation says that nine of the men–seven Sikhs and two Hindus-have been formally arrested.

A magistrate in the city of Jullundur ordered them into the custody of the central bureau of investigation until June 29th. The 10th suspect was under interrogation, but hasn’t been formally arrested.

The arrests earlier this week are said to have been made on the basis of information provided by the R.CMP. Satnam Singh, Ravi Bhushan and General Manager of *AJDI AWAZ’ Devinder Singh, Ujaggar Singh, Santokh Singh, Kuldip Singh and Mohinder Singh are among those who were arrested. Bharpur Singh Balbir, Editor of *AJ DI AWAZ’ daily and his son Tejinder Singh have also been arrested for interrogation. They may also be taken to Delhi for thorough investigation; A case has also been registered against them. It may be noted that no incriminating material have been found during the search. A diary containing the telephone Numbers of various persons in Canada is the only material evidence that was found from the house of one suspects.
