VANCOUVER, B.C:— four shots were fired in the chest of a recently appointed Minister of State for Planning in Punjab Cabinet, Mr. Malkiat Singh Sidhu, 56, at Campbell River whose car was run off the road. Doctors attending upon him in a hospital in the Vancouver Island Community, 140 miles north of Victoria, said after the operation that Mr. Sidhu was in a stable condition and breathing on his own.

Four persons were taken into ‘custody on Monday in connection. With the shooting incident, said police inspector, Stan Suller. The names of the arrested persons were not disclosed.

Mr. Sidhu was reportedly on a mission to win over Sikh groups agitating for an Independent State of their own in Punjab. He was specially deputed by the Punjab Chief Minister to explain to Sikhs living in Canada and America the reasons for the second attack on the Golden Temple. Mr. Barnala was punished for committing the sacrilege by the High Priests.
