NEW DELHI: Alluding that the 10th Finance Commission was considering rescheduling of loans issue including that of Punjab, Union Finance Minister Manmohan Singh stated that the Center had kept all State problems in mind while extending special assistance Lo various States, Answering, a spate of questions from Punjab members including Igbal Singh, the Finance Minister said that Rs 1400 crores has been fixed for special assistance for states for 199394, He said that Rs 496 crore had been kept aside for the hydroelectric projects in Punjab including Thein Dam, Shahpur Kandiand the Guru Nanak Thermal project at Bhatinda.

Manmohan Singh also disclosed that the center had gone out of its way to help Punjab where the 199394 annual plan of Rs 1250 crore had been funded by the central support of Rs 1396 crore including a special loan of Rs 939 crores. (More on this story inside).
