CHANDIGARH, India: Punjab Governor S.S. Ray has stressed that defense protection committees should be formed at the block and village level to encourage people’s resistance to the violent activities in Punjab. Presiding over a State Committee of Communal Harmony and National Integration Council, Ray said that freedom fighters and all other elements were all out to create a situation of choas and confusion to disintegrate the unity or jeopardise freedom.
Ray said that the only problem in Punjab was of violence and antinationalism. Antinational forces were bent upon creating communal tension. The Governor asked the political parties to organize tallies and mass contact programmes to educate the people against the designs of antinational forces.
