CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Governor has decided to amend the Punjab Municipal Act to provide for postponing civic election for one more year. All the municipal committees where elections are long overdue will continue to be administered by Punjab Government appointed officers.
It may be recalled that the Governor had assured the public last month that he would order election to the local bodies before holding the Assembly election. Both have now been postponed.
