CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court last week sentenced Punjab Chief Secretary A.S. Chatha to undergo one month’s simple imprisonment and to pay R.s 1,000 as fine for contempt of court.

In case he fails to pay the fine, the Chief Secretary will have: to undergo imprisonment for one more month.

Justice H.S. Bedi while handing over the judgment on a contempt position here, however, suspended the operation of his order for two weeks to enable Chatha to file an appeal.
