WASHINGTON DC: Washington. witnessed one of the biggest and best organized protest rally by Sikhs and Kashmiris on May 191993 when over five thousand of them converged on the White House from all over the United States to protest Indian Prime Minister Raos visit to Washington DC.
The public protest on May 19 which was synchronized with the Visit of Rao to the White House Started at 11 am sharp under an overcast sky and temperature in the upper 50s with full throated shouts of Khalistan Zindabad and Butcher Rao go back. The four thousand Sikh protestor’s intermingled with about two dozen Tamil demonstrators were joined at noon by nearly a thousand Kashmiris who had organized a public meeting in the Lafayette Park opposite the White House.
After marching in separate columns for over an our in front of the main gate of the White House the 4000 strong Sikh contingent for self-extermination for the Sikh and Kashmiri People. He promised to fight for human rights and repeal of draconian Laws in India in the US Congress. The suave Congress Man received a Standing ovation from the crowd.
Dr Amarjit Singh won over the enthusiastic crowd of Sikhs and Muslims by leading the cheers for Sat Sri Akal and Allah-O Akbar which were repeated with great enthusiasm by the spirited audience. In his short Speech he drew attention to the strength that Sikh/Muslim Brotherhood represents and how the Alliance can break the back of the Brahmin Culture and thus bring freedom to the monotheistic Sikhs and Muslims now captive in India He declared that just as Sikhs never for Set their Shaheeds and friends they also never forgive their traitors who will be held accountable for their misdeeds and treason When Khalistan frees itself from the Brahmin yoke Dr.Rajwant Singh President (USA) of International Human Rights Organization gave a dismal account of the Human Rights abuses in Punjab and Kashmir and urged the audience to apply pressure on India to allow International Human Rights Organization free access into Punjab and Kashmir. Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai Director Kashmir Information Center demanded that the world must put pressure on India IO abide by the UN Resolutions on plebiscite in Kashmir so that the Opinion of the people can be ascertained. Dr.Gurmit Singh Aulakhi was among many other speakers.
Who addressed the meeting? After the lunch break the Sikhs and Kashmiris formed over a mile long column complete with Nishan Sahibs. anti-Indian placards Kashmir and US flags and Staged a colorful joint march on Washington’s main streets (Pennsylvania and Consutution Avenues) to another meeting organized by the Sikh Youth of America night on the steps of the capital within hearing of the US Congress.
