NEW DELHI: Hundreds of farmers, youth and women, led by Congress (I) leader Rajesh Pilot Jan 3 courted arrest on Parliament Street in the center of the capital protesting against the proposed construction of

Disneyland nearby, Janata Dals ruled Haryana state.

Before courting arrest, the slogan shouting demonstrators were addressed by Pilot among others, who urged the government to stop the proposed project immediately and institute an inquiry by a high court judge into the manner in which land of 28 villages was earmarked for the project.

The speakers said at least 150,000 farmers would be affected by the project and resolved to begin a mass agitation to focus on their demands.

The demonstration organized by the all India Kisan Mazdoor Maha panchayat, began from Pilot’s residence.

 NEW DELHI: Japan would provide a grant of about 402 million yen (approximately rs 5.4 crore) to -India as aid to alleviate financial burden of interest payments insured on past loans by the Japanese government ‘Were exchanged recent! in this regard between Mr D SUBBARAO joint secretary, ministry of finance, government of India and Mg Akira Matsui, minister of the embassy of Japan in India.
