NEW DELHI: VP Singh on Tuesday discussed with the chief ministers the question of waiving loans to farmers as promised in the assembly election campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal.
The loan waiver promise has created problems for some of the states where the Congress I was routed as the present governments were finding difficult to raise the finance to provide debt relief
They are considering shelving of few schemes to find the funds for Joan waiver.
According to an announcement made by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Sunder Lal Patwa on Saturday the federal government ha: accepted his formula for waiving the farmer’s loans in the state.
