CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Governor has recommended the extension of President’s rule for another six month term the sixth and the last. In his report to the President, Governor Ray said that in view of the situation prevailing in the state it was not possible to have a stable political setup.

The political parties which find themselves in uncertainty now seem convinced the state will not go to the polls with the rest of the country.

Unlike the previous report, the Governor has been unusually brief this time. There are no exhaustive background reports in support of the demand for extension of the President’s rule.

*.A motion is expected before Parliament soon to give effect to this recommendation.
