CHANDIGARH: Relatives of President Shanker Dayal Sharma figure among hundreds of persons who were allotted pilots in prime areas on Delhi’s periphery by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal from his discretionary quota.
Among the beneficiaries of Bhajan Lal’s munificence are many persons whose addresses include Sonia Gandhi’s 10, Janpath, residence and the office of the All India Congress Committee, The plots were given in Gurgaon and Faridabad, where Jand prices are skyrocketing.
‘The list includes employees of Rashtrapati Bhawan and the Prime Minister’s office, former ministers, MPs, judges, MLAs, bureaucrats, journalists, the Chief Minister’s relatives, and chowkidars and sweepers posted at his residence.
Prominent among them are former ministers P.S. Sangura, Buta Singh and Ram Lakhan Singh, Air Force chief S.K. Sareen, Haryana Congress president Dharampal Singh Malik, Punjab Congress president Virendra Kataria, former Punjab DGP. KP\S, Gill, Haryana Chief Secretary M.C. Gupia, Haryana DGP Kalyan Rudga, ‘Adviser (the Chandigarh Administrator Pradeep Mehra and well-known lawyer Kapil Sibal.
The President’s son and wife were allotted plots in Gurgaon in June 1994. One of the plots measures one Kanal and the other 14 Marlas. Bhajan Lal mostly allotted one Kanal plots to influential people, but gave two kanal plots to certain favorites.
Former MPs and MLAs figure in large number among those allotted plots in Gurgaon, Formers MPS in chide Jangir Singh, Surinder Singh Kairon, Jagdeep Dhankad, KK, Tewary, and Rajni Ranja Sahu, Former MLAs include Anand Singh Dangi, Santosh Chauhan Sarwan, Suraj Mal Phusa Ram, Yejender Pal Mann, Mohammad Ilyas Dharambir Gauba.
‘Gauba was allotted a plot in dh: name of his son. One plot was allotted to Seema Bishnoi, wife of Bhajan Lal’sson Chander Mohan, and another to Surabhi, daughter ‘of his son-in-law Anup Bishnoi. Two plots were allotted to Bhajan.
