NEW DELHI: India’s power lifter Sumita Laha a world record holder has tested positive in a dope test a senior official of the Indian powerlifting federation said here Friday.

The report of the test received by the federation Thursday stated that Laha had taken banned anabolic steroid 6 Beta Hydroxymethandienone

Vice president of the federation Shankar Sinha said tests on urine samples taken during the world women’s powerlifting championship held at Delhi were conducted by the dope control ‘and research center at Kings College London on August 3.

Sumita Laha had set a world record in the world championships In the squat event (75kg) by lifting 235.5 kg beating Kathy Millen of New Zealand who lifted 234 kgs.
