LUDHIANA: A function organized by the Shiromani Akali Dal to mobilize youth power for its Lok Sabha election campaign by bringing both its young stars ‘on one platform was marked last week by poor attendance ‘and lack of concern by veteran leaders. The function was held at Guru Nanak Engineering College purportedly to honor Sukhbir Singh Badal, son of party president Parkash Singh Badal who is contesting from Faridkot and ‘Amnik Singh Aliwal, Youth Wing president who is in the fray at Ludhiana, ‘President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Gurcharan singh Tohra, who presided over the function, left even before the youth leaders arrived to attend the function held in the laws. Senior vice-president of the party Jagdev Singh Talwandi and general secretary Talwandi and general secretary Captain Kanwaljit Singh (retd), made an exit after? Making their Speeches and did’ not have the patience even to wait for the youth leaders to be honored.
Although the student organizers had made arrangements for serving ‘langar’ at the venue and appeals were made to all to come and join in, but the contestants and their supporters themselves, did not have the humility to sit ‘with the others for a bite.
