BANGALORE: The National Front Convener V.P. Singh made it clear here on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party and other parties which have shown interest in seat adjustment with National Front would have to accept its policies and programmes without reservation.
Talking to reporters soon after a meeting of party office bearers from across the country, he said his party was committed to policies like giving statutory status to the Minorities Commission and promotion of Urdu. “We are not going to give up these policies for the sake of others,” he said.
He said the state units of the party had been given flexibility to draw up strategies with regard to seat adjustments with the BJP. The Parliamentary Board Chairman, Devi Lal would coordinate the effort. We do not want division to Opposition votes,” he added.
Singh reiterated that his party would not have anything to do with the Shiv Sena and if the Maharashtra unit of the BJP went into an alliance with them, the State unit of Janata Dal would
deal with the situation.
On Sri Lanka he said his party was committed to the withdrawal of the Indian Peace Keeping Force but it cannot be abrupt but only after a dialogue.” On Punjab he said the Rajiv Government was “only behind bullet and ballot” policy if he was to play the card of hatred he can’t sing the song of love”. The only solution was to go to the people he added.
About the reported letter written by one of his own party men asking him to step down, he said, “I will not discuss party matters with the press.”
