AMRITSAR, Punjab, India: The security forces reenter into the Golden Temple for the second time in the last 30 hours on October 24, 1987. Virtually manning all entrances to the temple and the offices inside. To protest against the reentry, the S.G.P.C. closed its offices for the day. A large contingent of C.R.PF. Included women went to the Golden Temple at 7:00 a.m. and took positions at all strategic points, including the entrance to Guru Ram Das Sarai and Guru Nanak Niwas.
SP.city Baldev Singh told the newsmen that the police will keep vigil, both inside and outside the Temple. All the sixteen entry points have been plugged. Asked if it would be a permanent feature, the S.P. replied in affirmative. The police officer said to the newsmen. That the government will not allow the freedom fighters to regroup themselves and take refuge in the Golden Temple.
