CHANDIGARH: Two assistant sub inspectors of the CIC branch of Haryana Police were arrested by the Rajasthan Police on the eve of the polling for the state Vidhan Sabha on Nov.10.
ASIs Bahadur Singh and Dalip Singh, who were posted at Sirsa, were caught at the Chautala barrier on the Rajasthan Haryana border along with 123 others while on way to Sangaria in Sri Ganganagar district.
The Rajasthan Police had reports that groups from Haryana would enter Sangaria to indulge in booth capturing. These persons were caught when they could not give any convincing explanation for visiting Sangaria on the eve of polling.
‘The arrested persons, including the ASIs, were booked under Sections 107, 116)3) and 15] of IPC, which means attempt to disrupt peace, Lakshman Meena, SP of Srinagar, when contacted on telephone, said they had sent the chase to court.
Both ASIs belong to Mohammadpura village “n Fatehabad police station art at which falls in Hisar district, but is wrongly shown in Sirsa district in the FIR. They were posted at Sirsa.
Incidentally, Mohammadpura is also the village of Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, who was AICC (I) observer for the Rajasthan elections. Congress candidate in Sangaria was Gyan Prakash Kadwasra, who is closely related to Bhajan Lal’s younger son Kuldip’s wife.
According to the FIR, the SHO of Sangaria received reports from an informer on Nov.10 that “Kuldip Bishnoi and Chandra Mohan, who belong to Adampur and command political influence,” wanted to indulge in booth capturing to help a candidate who was their relative.
For this purpose, Kuldip Bishoi and Chandra Mohan had hired a large number of bad elements by using their political influence and money. These elements would enter Sangaria from Chautala barrier, the reports said. Therefore, the SHO went to the barrier along with a police force around 3:45 p.m. There, he found a number of vehicles, having persons coming from different places in Haryana.
On questioning, these persons could not give any convincing replies as to why they were going to Sangaria and where they would stay. Some said that their program would be decided by their “boss” who would arrive shortly, the FIR says.
After some time, a Maruti car, with a red light on top, was seen approaching, but it suddenly turned back and drove away. The persons told the police that this was the car of the “boss.”
The SHO said he asked the persons to go back, but they insisted on going to Sangaria, Some of them also boasted that they were the same persons who had Sent back Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh from Kurukshetra, Therefore, the police arrested them.
