NEW DELHI, India Police killed two people and wounded three others today as they fired into a stone throwing mob trying to set a police station in central 31 India afire, the Press Trust of India reported today.

‘About 50 people who gathered Friday night at the police station in Pandhana, 470 miles south of New Delhi, to demand the release of three men arrested for disturbing the peace, became enraged when: they learned the men would not be freed, the news agency reported. Some began hurling stones at the building and hundreds more people flocked to join them in an attempt to bum down the station. Police first attempted to disperse the mob with tear gas, then opened fire, the Press Trust said.
