NEW DELHI (PTI): Thirteen militants were killed in the north Indian state of Punjab from Feb.1517.Two militants were killed and one was arrested in the state overnight Sunday.
Bhola Singh and his accomplice Charano were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the ‘Dirba police station area of Sangrur district Sunday night. Two AK47 rifles were recovered from the place of encounter.
‘Police arrested a militant Sharanjit Singh in Amritsar district and seized two rocket launchers and a rocket from him.
A militant of the Bhindaranwale Tigers Force of Khalistan, a militant outfit was killed in an encounter with security forces near Longowal village in Batala police district of Punjab Monday night.
One AK47 rifle, one magazine, one stick bomb and some cartridges were recovered from him.
Ten militants were killed and four militants arrested in separate incidents in Punjab since overnight Tuesday. Meanwhile the Punjab chief minister, Beant Singh has called upon media to help government in establishing complete peace and normalcy in the state for which, he said, a beginning has already been made.
