LUDHIANA: The Punjab Human Rights Association alleged that the Sangrur police was harassing the family members of Mr. Malwinder Singh Mali, a human rights activist. The PHRO chairman justice A.S. Bains said that Mali’s brother and mother have been arrested for no reasons, presumably to put pressure on Mali to surrender to the police. Justice Bains also condemned’ the defamation bill and described it as another black law, to curb the human Tights of the citizen.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Sikh Lawyers Association, Secretary Mr. DS. Gill, called upon all the democratic forces to oppose the bill until it is withdrawn.
