ROPAR: In another outrage against the people of Punjab, the police hand in the killing of Advocate Kulwant Singh, his wife and 15 month son is clearly evident.
The police have rounded up one Harpreet Singh a suspected militant who according to them, has confessed to the foul deed but the police story is full of holes. Harpreet Singh and his accomplice are in police custody and according to their confession, they killed the advocate and his family on the night of Jan.25 about 200 yards downstream of the Bhakra mainline canal, After the killings the bodies were dumped into the canal along with the car. However, Manjinder Singh the brothers of Harpreet Singh told newspersons that Harpreet had spent the night of Jan.25 at his sister’s house in Chinallon village and left early morning of Jan.26 for another relatives place al Kharar.
Advocate Santokh Singh Gilla friend of Kulwant Singh said that he was with him till 8:30 p.m. onJan.25 and had told him that he would be going to get expanse Manjit Kaur and her son of his village release from police custody, Kulwant had been asked by the village Panchayat to take up the case of Manjit Kaur. Another friend Jagir Singh says that at 9:25 p.m. Kulwant rang up the police station and was told that the two had been released and he could take them home. Jagir says that he left home with his wife and child in the Maruti car. His wife accompanied him for security. However, Manjit Kaur was not released before Jan.27 only after Ropar bar association took up the case.
It is quite clear that the police called Kulwant Singh to the police to kill him, When they found him along with his wife and child, they too were killed to destroy any witnesses. This is atypical episode of the inhuman brutalities committed by the police in Punjab against innocent people. They don’t spare. even 15 month old infants. How long will all this go on?
