CHANDIGARH: The Punjab police on Wednesday denied the charge by Sukhpal Kaur that she had been raped by a police official and not by Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Baldev Singh Bhatt,
Sukhpal Kaur and her mother Jaswinder Kaur were whisked away by the Chandigarh police from a restaurant here on Tuesday immediately after they had narrated their version of rape at a news conference and handed over to the Punjab police.
In a 4page statement, a Punjab police spokesman said the two women had alleged that they had been forced to come to Chandigarh by certain individuals and give a tutored statement before newsmen, “The allegations of rape by a police official are totally contradicted by the medical report of the board of doctors of civil hospital, Ludhiana,” he added.
He said the sex scandal involving Bhatti was exposed when Gumam Singh of Data village al Jeged in an affidavit that his daughter Kulwant Kaur had been raped: by Bhatt. It was during investigation in this case that it was learned that the MLA had also raped Sukhipal Kaur, her mother Jaswinder Kaur and elder daughter Baljit Kaur of Talwara village. Bhatti was in dulging in similar sexual offences at Moga. His other victim was Beant Kaur working in the same hospital where Kulwant Kaur worked. According to the spokes man, Bhatti’s active accomplice was Daljit Singh Rajput who had procured anticipatory bail. He said Bhatti had fully con fessed his involvement in sexual offences which he was carrying out at a gun point.
The spokesman disclosed that the third rape scandal involving Sukhpal Kaur and others was revealed during interrogation of Gulwant Singh.
