NEW DELHI, July 31, Police fired teargas and baton charged several hundred protestors who broke police lines and surrounded Home Minister Buta Singh’s house during anti-Sikh protests in Delhi today.

Witnesses said about 15 people were injured when police clashed with members of the opposition Bhartiya Janata Party who tried to march into Parliament and staged demonstrations scattered around the capital.

The crowds, which also surrounded an office of the ruling Congress (I) Party, were protesting against the killings yesterday of two of their leaders in Delhi.

Witnesses said police arrested more than a dozen protestors who smashed car windscreens and threw bricks at police who pushed them back to their party headquarters.
