NARWANA: Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his return from Russia will invite the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab to devise means for expediting the unfinished portion of the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal
This information was disclosed last week by Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal while addressing a publically where she announced a sum of Rs $12 crore for strengthening the irrigation system in the State. Bhajan Lal said that the Prime Minister had assured him of help in sorting out the matter concerning resumption of work on the remaining portion of the canal in Punjab.
He said that the recently concluded Yamuna water agreement was beneficial and made more Water available to Haryana.
The Chief Minister said that Om Prakash Chautala after failing to mis load farmers on the issue of CATT was now using the water agreement to provoke the masses.
Haryana would now get 5.73 bem he said adding that after the construction of the Hathni Kund barrage the water flowing in would be 23000 cubic feet per second instead of 16000 cubic feet per Second.
Bhajan Lal criticized Devi Lal on Om Prakash Chautala for their failure to undertake any developmental project in the state during their regime and indulging in Cattiest politics
He said that farmers of the state had benefitted to the tune of Rs 2240 crore during the last three years by way of increased production and enhanced price of their produce He said that recently an agreement had been signed with an Israeli company to set up a super thermal plant
Yamuna nagar which would generate power at a cost of about Rs 192 per unit for the next 25 years.
