JAIPRAKASH NAGAR, (UP):The army has not been deployed in Punjab to deal with the militants problem, prime minister Chandra Shekhar said here Dec 12.
Inaugurating a cataract operation camp here, he said no troops has been sent to the state and charged some antinational forces of indulging in such disinformation.
The troops are holding annual exercises on the border areas, he explained, while speaking at this historic town in Ballia district where socialist leader Jaya Prakash Narayan was born.
The prime minister said his government did not believe in the use of force or suppression. It wanted to win the hearts of the people by applying the healing touch.
Chandra Shekar called upon the people to cooperate with the government in building a new India.
On the Babri Masjid controversy, Chandra Shekar said the new India could not be built till the people ended their petty internal quarrels.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yaday lashed out at former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh and said his contribution to the nation was a rise in prices and communal tensions.
Saying that V P Singh never took him into confidence, Yadav said the Temple Mosque issue would now be amicably resolved by the new government.
