NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in a hint to the constitutional crisis, in the wake of the Election Commission’s unprecedented orders warned of anarchy if different organizations of the government and society Stepped outside their prescribed Parameters.
Rao addressing a function marking the closing of the Quit India golden jubilee functions at the historic Central Hall of Parliament on Monday said:” mixing roles, Overstepping jurisdictions and usurping procedures are a recipe for anarchy.”
He noted that India’s pluralistic democracy by definition implied a multiplicity of organizations. However, these organizations of the Government and institution “its ambit and according to the procedures laid down for it,” in order to make a success of democracy, he declared.
