PANAJI: Prime Minister Chandta Shekhar Sunday said attempts were being made to hold assembly elections in Punjab Assam and Jammu and Kashmir along with that of Lok Sabha.
Although the PM is inclined to hold the poll the President may put his foot down in view of the tough position taken by the Congress BJP and CPM on the issue.
The prime minister was speaking to newsmen after a brief halt at Dabolim airport here on way to Delhi He was received by Goa Governor Bhanu Prakash Singh the Chief Minister Ravi Naik and his cabinet colleagues and others.
Chandra Shekhar said his government had tried to contain militancy but despite the best efforts of the police everywhere acts of sabotage continued even in New Delhi.
Asked to comment on Chautala becoming the chief minister of Haryana Chandra Shekhar said the legislature party was elected. Chautala and that he had nothing to say.
