NEW DELHI: There was Pandemonium in the Rajya Sabha on Deo.30 during the debate on the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)s report after Janata Dal member Ram Jethmalani charged
Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao with having crippled the independent functioning of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is directly under his control.
Jethmalani sparked off the uproar during his speech when he said that the JPC had failed to trace the huge amount of money involved in the scam because the Prime Minister had interfered with the CBI the chief investigating agency of the country. What had happened from November 1992 that the CBI was completely crippled under the corrupting influence of the Prime Minister he said.
