NEW DELHE: The Union Home Minister, S.B. Chavan, Oct.31 clarified that he did not bring any currency with him in his aircraft when he had gone to Chandigarh to attend the funeral of the late Punjab Governor, Surendra Nath, who died in an air crash in July this year.
Chavan, while categorically terming these reports as baseless and misleading said: “I did not bring anything with me.”
When asked whether the currency and jewelry existed, Chavan paused for a while and said: “I am not aware of it. It is for the Prime Minister to take a decision whether to order an inquiry.”
In reply to another question, Chavan complicated the issue by saying that it was not for him to say whether any amount was found and to where it belonged. “I deny whatever is attributed to.Me.”
