CALCUTTA: The president of the West Bengal unit of the BJP Tapan Sikdar claimed here that about 12 to 14 well-trained Bangladeshis had entered West Bengal to assassinate L.K Advani

Dhaka-based Islami Chhatra Federation has set up a cell for carrying out secret operations. The members of the cell held a meeting at Fakir hat Bazar in Khulna on March 18 this year. -_—
Eight young men attended. They were Harun Rashid Taidul Islam Gabbar Mollah Rabiul Islam FazL Munshi Bijur Miah Karim Sheikh and Sabir Mollah. Most of them are aged between 25 and 32. The youngest is Taidul Islam at 18. Prominent Members
The first four are said to be the leading members and Harun Rashid is the secretary of the action committee set up for assassinating Advani.
Sikdar said the members of the team had visited West Bengal and other parts of the country several times. Harun Rashid was away accompanied by one Kubad Khan the name he believed to be an alias. Kubad Khan was not a Bangladeshi citizen. The two stayed at hideouts in the Kidder pore area in Calcutta whenever they visited the city. It. was originally decided at before going ahead with the assassination of Advani the members of the cell would hold a final meeting on August 25. But due to some unknown reasons they advanced their date of departure and about 12 to 14 extremists were believed to have stayed in Calcutta till July 28. Subsequently they had left for some place in Bihar near Gaya.
Sikdar said this group was believed to be carrying different kinds of explosives including some operated electronically.
The attempt on Adyani’s life was expected to be made somewhere outside West Bengal. He had brought this to the notice of his party headquarters in Delhi.
The state govt has reportedly brought the matter to the notice of the Central govt.( Times of India).
