FREMONT: At an impressive gathering of local Sikhs here on Sunday it was resolved to keep up the struggle for Khalistan amid loud choruses of “Khalistan zindabad” and “Jo Bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal” Seven resolutions were passed.

Reports from San Jose Caruthers Fresno Modesto Bakersfield New York Stockton Livingston Seattle and Los Angeles also spoke of the sangats passing these resolutions on the historic occasion of the Declaration of Khalistan Day. On April 291986 the Panthic Committee had declared Khalistan from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

After Bhog of Akhand Path Punj Piaras and children saluted the Kesri Nishan Sahib Bhai Dhanna Singh of the Panthic Committee read out the the original declaration of independence. S Gurmit Singh read a message from the Panthic Committee (Dr Sohan Singh) thanking the Sikhs living abroad for their contribution in the valiant struggle for independence.

Dr Amarjeect Singh gave a discourse on Sikh ideals the struggle for nationhood and like all other speakers paid homage to the Sikh martyrs. These nobles’ sacrifices would not be forgotten he said.

Dr Pritpal Singh said the Sikhs needed more introspection to eliminate weaknesses. He urged women to emulate Mai Bhago and Bibi Harsharan Kaur.

S Balbir S Ragi spoke of the series of broken promises made by the Brahmans to Sikhs He said the Sikhs would live with honor no matter how great the sacrifice was required.

S Jatinder S Hundal and S Ravinder S Shergill spoke of the importance of the declaration of Khalistan.

Dr Ajit Pal Singh stressed the need to educate children about our culture and heritage as they were the future of the Sikh nation.

A poem read by S Boor Singh and a speech read by Bibi Aman Kaur Ragi (13) on independence visibly moved the audience
