NEW DELHI: Janata Dal president S.R.Bommai suggested an amendment to the constitution to bar formation of governments on the basis of outside support.

In an interview to PTI Bommai said the concept of outside support in the formation of government was illegal and unconstitutional adding that the concept in any case was a myth.

Bommai said nowhere in the world this kind of an arrangement existed. You are either in the government or in the opposition.

The Janata Dal leader also forcefully pleaded for serious efforts to explore the formation of a national government at the center to face the deteriorating situation on all fronts in the country and the grave dangers posed by the gulf war.

The first ever national convention of the Janata Dal being held at Puri in Orissa from February 8 would deliberate on these aspects while discussing the political and economic situation and country’s foreign relations he said.
