NEW DELHI; The Philippines has become the latest of foreign bases in South-East Asia used by insurgents operating in the North East according to Assam Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia.
Saikia, who was in the Capital last week to apprise Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao of proposed Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC), said renegade Bodo Security Forces leader Ranjan Daimari had been shuttling between Bangkok and the Philippines in pursuance of his antinational activities,
The Chief Minister noted that till now insurgents from various out fits, including the ULFA. Had been using Dhaka, Singapore and Bangkok as bases to buy arms and launder money.
He alleged that they were indulging in these activities with the active connivance of Pakistan’s ISI and with “full support” of Bangladesh.
