PATIALA: The Financial Commissioner Amrik Singh Pooni said today that the Pepsi food processing plant at Channo in Sangrur district would start functioning by November.

Talking to newsmen here he said the plant would lift more than 30,000 tonnes of potato and grains and was expected to produce nearly 13,000 tonnes of finished product.

Pooni said that an area of 1.52 lakh hectares had been brought under fruti cultivation in the State.

Pointing out that wine could not be produced from the grapes grown in the State, Pooni said the farmers would have to switch to the variety being produced in Maharashtra.
