NEW DELHI: Members of several organizations Saturday “marched for peace” urging Indian and Pakistani leaders to try and avert the horrors of war in the interest of people of both countries.
The march was led by VM Tarkunde, a human rights activist.
A memorandum was presented to President R Venkataraman and Pakistan high commission urging the two countries to ensure that their armies would be withdrawn to a safe distance from the border to prevent any accidental flare up.
The protestors who marched silently carried flowers, symbol sing peace and harmony.
