MILFORD: First Anand Karaj ceremony was performed in Milford Mass. Gurdawara on July 201991 when Bibi Paramjit Kaur daughter of Sardarni and late Sardar Mela Singh and sister of prominent Massachusetts Sikh Sardar Charanjit Singh Randhawa was married to Sardar Harminder Singh son of Sardarni and late Sardar Balwant Singh. The traditional ceremony was performed by Bhai Swaran Singh Ji Head priest of New England Sikh Study Circle Milford Mass. For the benefit of American guests of the bride Dr. Manohar Singh Grewal not only provided step by step commentary in English but also explained the significance of the Sikh marriage ceremony.
Sardar Rajinder Singh Bhas in Head priest Shepard Bush Gurdawara in England who was visiting Massachusetts also addressed the Sangat and explained the maryada to them.
The Darbar Hall was packed to capacity. Besides the Sikh Community from New England States friends and relatives of the bride and groom also came from Kenya Malaysia England Canada New York New Jersey Pennsylvania California and West Virginia.
Prior to the Anand Karaj the guests were treated to traditional Panjabi sweets and entertained to a lively entertainment of Panjabi folk songs. In spite of 101 degree Fahrenheit temperature and uncomfortable humidity the guests enjoyed the occasion.
Sardar Charanjit Singh Randhawa and his ever-smiling and energetic wife Sardarni Bhupinder Kaur were felicitated by all the friends and relatives for the nice arrangements.
The couple will make their home in Sudbury Massachusetts.
