HANDIGARH, India: Punjab government has decided to replace CREF. With P.A.P From around the Golden ‘Temple complex. It is being done on the request of the S.G.P.C. Commenting on the replacement of CRP-F, Punjab State Minister for Home, Mr. Kanwaljt Singh said that the S.G.P.C, had complained that C.R.P.F. harassed – Sikhs going to the Golden Temple for prayers. C.R.P-F. jawans also violated the sanctity of the Temple giving rise to great resentment among the Sikh devotees.
He, however, admitted that – CR-P.F. was deployed in Amritsar because of shortage of P.A.P. men; He said C.R.P.F. would be immediately removed when 1500 P.A.P. personnel would complete their training.
